Greetings all
I obtained a hand winch on the weekend and need help in identifying the manufacturer.
It's very rough looking, but the innards seem to be
well greased and it works OK.
It was originally black in colour, but if anyone can help with the manufacturer I can do a bit of research on its capacity.
The label looks like 600kg, but coulkd be 1600 with the 1 worn off, and the model number looks like 1600.
I've heard of diamonds in the rough, but this looks more like a cubic zirconia in the very rough.
Cheers and thanks.Image Could Not Be FoundImage Could Not Be Found

Don't Tirfors have a cast alloy housing?

Probably a Black Rat, copy of a tirfor.
Looks like the "Bl" in the top LH corner of that sticker.
The only time I've used a Black Rat hand winch it wouldn't hold under load and we sent it back.
Did hear a rumour that many have had probs with Black Rat gear.

I agree that it is a Black Rat Hand Winch.

I agree with traveller2. Do you have the wire rope? Because from what I know these
winches come in two sizes 800kg and 1600kg. The 800kg takes an 8mm cable and the 1600kg takes an 11mm cable. This way you can ascertain the capacity.
Cheers.

Thank you all.
Yep, a bit of help and some research, and it is a Black Rat.
Cable is 11mm which makes it a 1600kg.
All I need now is a healthy dose of rust converter to see what it scrubs up like.
Cheers all.
