If things start falling off on the GCR, help is at hand.

Here’s a story about good service in the outback. As some of my earlier posts have alluded to, I had a few issues with my trailer on the last great expedition out west. When things went pear shaped for the first time, we were still headed west along the Giles-Mulga Park Road headed for Warburton. To cut a long story short, both sides of the trailer shook themselves to pieces. Now imagine my relief to find out that there was a new bloke in town at Warburton who had decided to make a go of the local garage and engineering works. John Broughton or Big John as I will refer to him now, had been working in the mines and decided that it was time to try a business of his own. Following a frantic phone call from the Warburton Roadhouse at 4.30pm on a Friday afternoon, John went out of his way to help and did a great repair job that got the trailer home some 7,000 km later. So if you’re travelling down the GCR and things start falling off or you need repairs, go and see John. He’s at the sheds next to the council depot or ask at the Roadhouse.

Hmmmmmm....I seem to recall words about the frail looking trailer......LOL

Thanks for the heads-up on bush repairs out there. Always handy to have that stored in the memory banks

Cheers

Smart bloke. The bush always needs willing trades people. BTW talked to a guy who recently came East West along the GCR and said the NT side is pretty bad. He passed 2 trucks that were bogged in the deep sand that was in some places.

Hi Dunc

We also spoke to someone a couple of weeks ago who saw a road train sand bogged. However yesterday met someone who'd just come across and they said it is currently being graded - so we may be lucky.
