To David, exploroz, I find the pop-up advetising squares on the
forum pages annoying. They often obscure photo's or writing details from members. Is there some way they can be reconfigured so that they do not encroach on the
forum detail
Cheers

I may be wrong David, it only seems to do it intermtted. Could be a problem with my PC screen size settings.

Georeg,
after you enter the
Forum, you will see a little box enabling you to Suppress Advertisements- for Members Only.
Tick that and see how you go.

George - the advertising is designed to fit within a specific space on the page and most definatley should not encroach or obscure photos or text. They are not "pop ups". Please send David an email with screen snap shots if it continues but it does sound like a problem with your browser. We haven't seen or heard of this issue before. I can advise that there are some ads that are designed to expand on roll-over events - ie. if you move your mouse over the area of the advert, it will automatically expand over the page but will automatically shrink again if you move your mouse off it. I think there is only one creative running currently like this. We weren't too happy about accepting these ads but Nissan and the other big companies that have agencies handling their bookings say they are industry standard and in lieu of less than 2000 members paying subscriptions, we cannot afford to refuse their ads!
If anyone else agrees that they'd prefer the
Forum without the ads, then please do your bit and contribute financially to the site in the following ways:
- use the Activity Booking section
- use our
Shop
- become a Member (personal or business)
- use the display Trader ads to list your stuff for sale
Hope you appreciate our position and please let us know if there are any ongoing glitches by sending specific details to David via email. Thanks, MM

I can endorse the effectiveness of the Trader section. Most of the stuff I posted under
ACCESSORIES: VARIOUS GOODIES; Having a Cleanout.
were sold in the first couple of days.
All that's left is:
PORTABLE BBQ... a BARGAIN !!
DASH MAT for 70 series... BRAND NEW
GPS with CAR MOUNT... very handy. Connects to laptop.
Yep, some cynics may see this as a shameless re-promotion of my advertisement but it is really an endorsement of the TRADER.
Really !!

There is no "Pop-Up" advertising on this site to my knowledge??
If you are referring to the fixed box advert to the right then Gone Bush has answered the question above.

I don't think it is the fixed boxed ad the way it usually works.
The problem George is referring to is that the ad seems to float sometimes and blocks text. It has happened to me a few times in the last few weeks though not enough to bother me.
I just scroll down and then back up again and it goes away.

I am seeing the same thing. The ad will fload down like it is glued to the text. Nothing I do will remove it so just page back and then come forward again and it is gone.

Alan,
I have just installed a little modification that should re-position the ad once the page is fully loaded. Please let me know via PM to david@exploroz.com if you continue to see this issue.
You may see the ad overlaid in the wrong place for a small period whilst the page fully loads however once it is fully loaded the ad should re-position correctly.
Enjoy
David

George,
I understand that you can now turn the ad off and this will solve the problem however I do know of this problem (Michelle was un aware when she replied). I know what causes it and will work to fix it for user that cannot suppress the ad. It is actually a small bug that occured when I made one of the significant perfomance fixing problems a few weeks back and will only effect threads that have large (byte size) images in the original thread question - (hence it is not a huge issue but can be a pain) - I know how to fix it and will install this fix in the next day or so.

I haven't checked if it still happening.
