Salutations to THE GR8 POO BAH (a worthy title indeed) Sir Kev and all the court!?
What a great time I had checking out a little part of that great country, I would wager a bet that I have already seen more of Qld than the average coastal resident would have, that's great it leaves all that space out there for the people that appreciate it.
As I listen to the rain I am pleased that I am retired from calving down a line of cows, no more trying to keep lambs alive in cold wet conditions, but my heart and thoughts go out to the people from Bedourie and parts north, looking at the rainfall maps they missed the rain again, as dry as it gets, after talking to people out there we don't realise how lucky we are.
I seem to have a problem getting photos from Adobe to my blog do the images open for other members or is it just me?
Cheers
Russ

Russ, be careful what you say. I might be in your neck of the woods early next year:)
If you hear of an Ozzie being stranded on your mountains, you'll know who has been kicked off the 4wd tour :)

I seem to remember that adobe will allow you to copy a pix ? I know that I've done itbefore butI can't remember an easy way.

Bedourie...yep, people can be born and grow up to a fair age without seeing much rain out there...but when Huey sends her down, oh boy !!

Hi Footloose. If the tour you are on is a a real tour then I am sure it will include the MAINLAND of NZ. Up here in the real world there are some interesting roads and tracks, not long in distance but they go up a long way and then back down again.
Keep in touch when you come, if you are going to Queenstown go through the Nevis Valley about 80ks (or is that miles) anyway it takes about 3- 4 hours to drive straight through, allow a full day to enjoy. If it suits I will have a yarn to some of the Stations and might get permission to use their tracks. Nevis, Skippers, area etc. That's another couple of days. If I provide a feed of oysters/muttonbirds and the shearers quarters are not in use I could organise accommodation as well.
Adobe Photoshop, I am sure it is not the system that is the problem, just my index fingers pushing the wrong buttons.
It is a funny old country out there. Come onto a herd of cows/calves on the Plenty, as you do pulled up said Gidday how far you going, ended up yarning for a couple of hours, that area was 10-12 inch rain now 2-3 inch to make matters worse they had 20 points rain about a month previous and the cows were dying of Ghidea Pod poisoning. I even offered to give them a hand, my horse days are over but I know cattle, even offered to go to the camp and put a meal on but hr assured me that the camp oven was on and they were OK. It was the tinge of despair in his voice thay got to me. She's a hard country allright. Drive another 200/300 ks and the cattle are fat and sassy.
Bugger it is still raining here.

Hi Russ, many thanks for the offer mate, but apparently I am to be held captive by my mate over there. www. On-Track 4WD
He's the one that came over to Oz last year, and I took him on a dogs breakfast of a tourists tour around Birdsville, Boulia, Longreach etc. And now he's insisting that I get my asp over there so that he can return the agony ...oops I meant the favour:)
I told him he didn't owe me anything but ...you know Kiwis :))
Something to do with southern lakes from memory. Hell I can't even pronounce the name of the place I'm supposed to fly into.
Yes those people out there are doing it tough. Unless they can put their stock somewhere where the feed is good....well you know far better than I.
Your rain is probably called "tourist green" :)))

G'day Russ

The Grand PooBah has retired for the time being but Sir Kev is still around...lol

Yep, the rain has alluded us all this year and we are 100mm behind on last years total so far. Still, the wheat is about 30cm high around these parts and bright green and the canola is in full flower. It is threatening to rain tonight but only spitting some drops. Good follow-up rains are needed. Traditionally it will rain during the school holidays at the end of the month and on and about the October LWE. Our annual rainfall here is 300mm which would not be much by your standards...lol

Cheers
