At the moment I just want my Tom Tom to show the road I am driving along and be connected via Bluetooth to my phone.

When touring same deal but voicing POI.

Currently as soon as I turn it on for hands free phone use, it wants to take me to my sons house via voice instructions.

I can use it successfully to navigate, its when I know where I am going, I don't need navigation messages.

Help.

Thanks
Peter

You can turn the sound off. Press the screen to bring up the menu, click change options and there should be an option to turn sound off (same place you choose day colours or night colours). I have a tom tom one so different models may be different.
It also sounds like it is still trying to take you to the last place you navigated to. I don't know how to get it to stop that. I find that once I reach my destination it stops talking to me and just shows where I am on the screen as I toodle along.

Have you cleared the route you last used? On my Tom Tom its on page 2 of 3 on the "main menu" screen.

If the Tom Tom is not acting" normal" reset it and see if that works. You will not lose any data. The reset point is a small recessed button located where the holder and charger connection goes. You will have to look hard to see it , a small paper clip is the ideal size to reset. Have the machine turned of, push down on the button and it will turn itself on and reset.

Why do you want it going if you know where you are going and having it on just showing the road is a bit weird.

I prefer to look at the road and listen to the navigator and hardly ever look at it.

A bluetooth earpiece is more convenient, I find than using the navigator as a handsfree.

just go through the menu's until you find clear route, about the third menu top right, and Graham when you have it showing the road you are on you can adjust it so you can see further ahead and where the corners are, especially at night I use it all the time in my truck.

What did you do in the days before they were invented. Surely you didnt read the refidex while driving.

Havent ever travelled fast enough that I couldnt read the road ahead even at night .

I prefer to watch the road not a screen as something may shoot out from the side when you are reading the GPS and Bingo!!!!!!!!
