So the last post looking for reviews of this fridge, not to be confused with the Evakool yellow number, did not get a response, aother post nothing from any owners.
So now they've been round a while although they are a cheaper option waeco, engel, sidewinder, I'd love any feedback.
The feedback found so far is excellent but from people that sell them so you know, after more customer focussed feedback.
They sell these units in Downunder
camping store (lots in
brisbane so lots of
places to take them back if need be), made in china I take it at the order of the people that make the downunder eskies. Impressive stats if they're real. And a 2yr guarantee is impressive and the insulation is impressive though makes them quite big.

How can it be an advertisement? I have a waeco 30FF, ancient and works fine but wtih 2 small kids I want something bigger.
I've prodded and poked these units and just after feedback. I know I can get the plastic engel for almost the same price with slightly smaller dimensions but I don't want to enter that argument as I have followed every thread on fridges.
If it was an advertisement I'd be including a link to my
shop, or at least the manufacturer, but I don't want peoples opinions that haven't got one so I did not include a link.
Sheesh, I don't even have a
shop, I don't sell anything, except the rhino bars in the Trader section that I picked up with some
wheels I bought last week but the bars don't fit my model hilux.
It's just another newish fridge on the market so another question from someone who might have one, pretty common question on forums.

Not "big" in that way Eric.
Big in character.
But bugger me, Six Two and 22 stone. Mate you are extending your heart muscle a bit.
Sorry, I'm sure you've heard it before. I've been told to give up the fags for years and reduce my drinking. We all have our pleasures I suppose.

Jim.

Prol,
Here's my feedback for what it's worth.
In my business I get to see a lot of different fridges that customers have and get their feedback. I can't comment on the one you're talking about as I haven't come across it.
I can tell you that the one that impresses me most is the "Yellow Number" (Fridgemate) from Evakool. They are tremendously robust, simple and have excellent insulation. They are also excellent value for money.
And they are made in Australia (Caloundra) by a business that supports this site.
No affiliation blah blah blah
Cheers,
Jim.

Thanks Jim, i guess I might take a chance on something different then I can answer other's queries. With the Downunder I rate the insulation, I like the handles, I like the clips, and the performance seems on par with everything if else if i believe what I am told. risk? compressor may blow up at some very inopportune time, then I'd wish I'd bought the plastic engel or something else. But then that's what everyone said would happen to my 30L $499 waeco about 6yrs ago and it stilll purrs on non-stop as fridge or freezer. Ok, so my waeco was made in Germany and the downunder has an unheard of chinese compressor, butI must admit the 2yr warranty from a large
camping store chain is attractive and kind of offsets that, if it's going to blow I'd like to think it's going to be within 2yrs.
And what can't I stand about the Engel ? It's internal shape. The fact that it is so tall and narrow as opposed to internal width. I make my own bacon, it's a serious issue. Might have to keep the waeco.
Oh, and I haven't bought any shelf system yet, will call you again if I revisit that improvement.

I've got a Waeco FF40. It's a great fridge but once you turn it off then it warms up quite quickly. The Evakool, with it's esky insulation, is always going to be a great option if you run out of
battery power and you don't necessarily need things to be frozen. I'm saving up for an Evakool

If the Waeco is a great fridge (which I don't doubt at all) why not just get a reliable battery system, will be much cheaper and make you fridge much more efficient in the long term

Ask them if it is a DOMUS compressor. If it is then buy Waeco, Engel, ABR, National Luna, Evakool or anything else but not a DOMUS compressor driven fridge.

This is a picture of the compressor, looks like a Danfoss in design, but I suppose it could be anything as it's not black in colour
Image Could Not Be Found
Derek what 's the story with the Domus compressors?

I know what that is...
DOMUS but an old picture as the new control box is one they did try copy from Danfoss and ACC but it still pulls 6A. I have one in my sample room. Kills a battery fast even with a 30% duty cycle.

"DOMUS but an old picture as the new control box is one they did try copy from Danfoss and ACC but it still pulls 6A"
Derek,
If I understand your suggesting it *draws* 6 Amps I would be very happy, because if you do the exact same test on a Waeco, Engal or the fridge you sell, I'm positive they will all give very similar results.
My fridge/freezer draws ~10 Amps, which equates to 2.8 amps per hour

Sorry to disappoint you but they don't.
50L fridges should draw 1.8A to 4A max and with a 30% duty cycle should draw approx 25 amps a day.
2 amps on a 50L is good but not 6.
The 6A draw on a 30% duty cycle is 43A. That's almost a full days power more than Evakool, Engel, Waeco and ABR-SIDEWINDER fridges.

Derek,
I'm not disappointed, just extremely puzzled ?
Are the pictures you have shown above of the Domus T26K compressor and the battery tester showing 13.1 Volts and a draw of 5.8 Amps, as an indication of the amp draw of the Domus compressor ??

It was an actual test on the DOMUS compressor fitted to a fridge supplied by one of the stores mentioned above.
Here is the actual fridge that was tested and is here in the store room.

See the clips on the battery. I had a trickle charger connected.

Hi All
Firstly it seems it is designed and built on order in China (some say taiwan) by an Australian company.
Now I could be wrong but in my quests for info have found pictures of identical to the mm fridges on old ebay and ozction sites and in fact old repco specials. So I expect is is just the rebadged old "downunder" fridge series . If it was an expensive upgraded fridge you'd think they'd market that. So as repco discontinued selling it, and it was more expensive then, and they've changed the name to sell the new ones, it might be great but I am skeptical, so this info sought of strikes it off my list and it's back to the what all you know and love list, might even end up with one of Derek's, at least his business is only a few suburbs away if i have an issue.
Sorry to bother.
