I am looking for feed back about this spot. Is there any shade and is there fresh
water available and the last question is does fisherman's road extend all the way to
Israelite bay now as on Goggle earth it looks like it does.

From memory fisheries road goes to
poison creek and from there you follow the telegraph track to isrelite.
Dont think any fresh
water is available there.
personally nearby Pt
malcolm has nicer campsites with one set into a dense thicket of paperbarks

Yes the road goes all the way to
Israelite bay and further.
Plenty of shade and shelter from the wind a few hundred metres back from
the beach.
There is fresh
water if you know which
bore to use. It is supposed to be good to drink but I didnt try it.
Some of the signposts along the way regarding distance seemed inaccurate.
It took about 3 hours from
Esperance each way.
I was there in April and the track was fairly corrugated.
There will be a few big bog holes if it has rained heavily.
Its best to drive around them

Yes, those bogholes are to be avoided.
We drove the track in the rain in 2005 and had been warned of the bog holes. I measured one at more than 2 metres deep!
As you have stated there are lots of sheltered
camping spots just back from
the beach.
We also did look for any of the fresh
water as we had enough with us.
Our journey took us 50+km along the old telegraph line through very dense scrub, to a poijnt where we accessed
the beach and then some 36km along
the beach to the turn off to Wylie
Scarp jump-up just short of
Point Culver.

I think Davoe may be correct about the best
campsite being closer to PtMalcom than
Israelite Bay.
There is a nice thick canopy of trees in a small hollow there and is where I plan to
camp next time I visit the area.

I travelled to
Israelite Bay just two months ago (July 2008), after staying in Cape Arid NP for a few days. I didn't
camp at
Israelite Bay as severe rain storms were rolling east and I was anxious to exit via the Balladonia Track.
Fisheries Road is the main route from
Esperance to the Bay. The Telegraph Track east from
Poison Creek Road (the route into Cape Arid) was closed by the parks people with a barrier &
sign across it. Can't comment on whether all of the Telegraph Track is closed or not. As others have commented, Fisheries Road has bog holes but with reduced tyre pressures and slowing down for bad sections, it wasn't a hassle. I endorse that there's ample shelter for
camp sites away from
the beach and scouting for the best locations.
I carried ample
water with me so didn't need to look for a local supply. Some of the
camp sites at Cape Arid & Cape LeGrand had small
water tanks but I didn't look for them at
Israelite Bay. You could phone the CALM office at
Esperance: (08) 9083 2100 or CALM at Cape Arid: (08) 9075 0055. Hope this helps.

Fisheries Road ends where the pastoral land ends. From there it is a track which leads down to Isrealite Bay. This track is not maintained & can be washed out after heavy rains so care must be taken traversing it. I have been to the bay several times over the years & find that the track is definately 4WD only & can be boggy in sections.
There is a fresh
water sink
well where a PVC liner has been sunk situated behind the
sand dunes at Pt.
Malcolm. It is not very distinguishable to find, but where the vehicle access to the
sand dunes from
the beach is - it is approximately 200 meters to the south west. I have found the
water to be drinkable but advise boiling before hand. You will need some container to lower down the liner to retreive the
water. There isalso a fresh
water spring at Wattle
Camp which is further east up the coast from Isrealite Bay. Cheers

The freshwater spring at Wattlecamp was dried up when we were there in 2005. Have you been there since that time?
Cheers

Hi Wllem.
Yes I was there 2 years ago & managed to dig down about a meter near where the steel
bore liner is & got fresh
water. Cheers.

HI Guys
Thanks for the info. We hope to be there around Xmas this year and having been to Arid but not beyond it thought it only fitting that we went to the end of the track. Is pt to the east of west of
Israelite bay .
