Lyndon,
can you enlighten me re "crime levels"? We are thinking of spending a few days in LR on next year's trip.

We stayed just out of town at Lorne Station... take the road towards the airport... only about 5k's. You don't tend to get the 'walk through' traffic there.

It sounds like Lorne station is the way to go.
"they" threw a rock through a rock guys window to steal his camera(with enough force to trash the window and the door trim of the door on the opposite side). This was done in a packed caravan park. I also saw one lad off the night before who was obviously up to no good.
The parks facilities were by far the work we have seen!!
A REAL S---HOLE!
We enjoyed seeing the place but probably wouldn't bother to go back.
Cheers Lyndon

Steve,

Could have been Dedabato (SA). I was supposed to have called in on him early last month but I lost his phone number. If you meet up, say hello for me.

Whilst in the neighbourhood think about going out to the Sheepyard Hotel, about 70km away from LR, it has a camping area, it is just like Lightning Ridge probably was 30 year ago. Sparky
