hi, we have a problem with condensation in the front boot of our poptop, as the boot is all lined with tin, even though there are a couple of drain holes the condensation builds up and everything ends up damp/wet and smelly. so we are hoping that someone out there has a solution to this problem (which seems to be quite wide spread). we have thought of lining the boot or putting vents in either side to get some air flow through but thought i would ask here first incase these had already been tried and tested, or if someone knows of something better to try. so if you can help in any way please do so, thanks from Chris.

Welcome to the world of the galvanised van boot. Basically there is no fix, so you may as
well get used to it.
The best you can do is mitigate the effect of the moisture. I've placed some plastic mesh on the floor so stuff isn't sitting in the
water whe it pools. Don'tleave anything that may be effected by mould i the boot for long periods, espcially winter and long rainy periods.
Or you could buy a heap of those moisture absorbers for wardrobes, etc and put them in the boot.
If you get a solution, best of luck.

Hi Chris
We have a fair bit of Electronic Gear in our Van Boot, and to
over come the Moisture Problem, the Manufacturers installed the
usual Air Vents and Floor Drains, but also have a small Blower Fan
above the Electronic Gear, it is about 200mm in Diameter, and runs
on 12 & 240 volt.
Cheers

Gday GB. We like many others we have condensation in the bilge of a boat, the way that is minimised is to have a couple of 25w lights on inside the bilge space. The small amount of heat produced fixes the problem. These lights are fire safe, talk to your manufacture they may know of an approved light that will solve the problem ----LOS

You could also try a marine solar vent, they have an inbuilt solar powered fan & can be bought as 'blowers or suckers".

try chucking a sack of rice in there - once it's absorbed all the moisture simply spoon it out into the microwave on arrival and bingo: cooked rice
never tried it, but you never know, it might work

Chris, venting of any sort will solve this problem. Whether it be slots or a solar fan. An air flow is required. How you go about this is the question.
good luck

well that's what my brain is saying (it's not always right though), but any air circulation is better than nothing, we were thinking of putting one small fridge type vent in either side of the boot but at different heights so hopefully the air will circulates and help our problem.
my brain also says that if the boot was lined that it would have to help, we bought some of that very thin matting/rubber that is put under floating wooden floors and were thinking of lining the boot with that aswell, if nothing else it will stop some rattling and rubbing in the boot, we will let others know if it works,
Chris.

Chris,
I have a product I've never had to use yet so not sure how effective it is. It's called 'Damp rid' a moisture absorber. The label says it prevents mildew, mould and musty odours and is for use in, among other
places, caravans. It is a tub of chrystals. May not be strong enough for the amount of condensation you are getting. Just a thought.
