Howdy,

Just wondering if anyone has traveeled from Mt Isa to Lawn Hill recently and which you went; what were the roads like? I am looking to go in through Riversleigh rather than via Cloncurry and B&W Roadhouse

Cheers

Did it 2 years ago it's your typical outback track when you get on the dirt bull dust patches and stones we went in Augast so the river crosssings were ok ,my mate was towing a C/T and did Mt Isa to Adel's Gove in one day which is the better place to camp instead of L/Hill.cheer's GREENDOG

Went to Lawn Hill about 6 weeks ago we went up through Burke and Wills and Back the other way through Riversleigh. First of all I must say what a great place Adells Grove is much nicer then staying at Lawn Hill the road was good about half of it is dirt Riversleigh way much shorter that way and they were grading the road as well no rain so it should be fine. Have a great time one of the nicest Gorges i have been to.

Just got back 2 weeks ago.

Reckon the road won't be too bad, just take your time.

Have had various reports on the road from Camoweal, from OK to real bad. But some people reckon anything that is not bitumen is bad. Came across some people who parked their vans at the Gregory river (last of the bitumen) and drove into Lawn Hill because of the bad dirt road. We sat on 90 and thought it was great with some minor corrugations.

We went in from the north (Kingfisher camp) and out via Cloncurry since we hadn't been on that road before.

Lawn Hill NP has a camping area, but because of the drought it is a bit dry and dusty. Cold showers, they don't start up the donkey boiler any more. Most sites have poles and are for tents. There is a small area for CTs and vans near the canoe hire.

Adels Grove is twice the price, $20.00 a night for the two of us but has good amenities (hot and cold) and plenty of shade in 'the grove'. 15 minute drive up to the gorge.

We managed to be first canoe one morning - magic. 8:00am start and $20.00/hr to hire. Takes about 45 min to paddle to the end of the 3rd gorge, then take your time coming back. Have a swim at the waterfalls at the top of the 1st gorge.

Still one of our favourite places.

Also did it about 6 weeks ago. In through Riversleigh and out through Lawn Hill station. Three vehicles were towing campers. No dramas.

Last year went in and out through Gregory Downs. Road was great to the Zinifex mine then deteriorated a bit but nothing dramatic.

Yep as above was there a few months ago and the roads are ok. Closer towards M.I. there's a fair amount of bull dust.

Fair call on the camp sites. In the park itself is much cheaper, cold showers and very dusty. But right in the middle of the gorge and actually quite nice. Only problem is the retards that don't know how to drive at walking pace. If you drive slowly around camp there's min dust. Heard quite a few screaming abuse at those that haven't the decency to drive slowly. Generally you find though that the cretins are just to stupid to even realise that they've just covered everyone in dust.

Can't recall the other NP camp on the way back into M.I. but it's not worth the stop. Right on the road and very, very dusty. Worth the walk around Riversleigh and up and around the hill. The road side stop at the turn off from M.I. to Lawn Hill is a total disgrace. Could not believe the amount of rubbish and human waste. Would be one of the worst I've every seen for unburied $h1t and paper. Just drive past it.

Thanks for all the feedback Fella's. It does look and sound like a special place and I can't wait to get there.

Cheers
