G'Day All,
This is short notice, however anyone that can help would be appreciated.
The
Simpson Desert Bike Challenge runs from Purnie
Bore on September 29 through to
Birdsville on October 4.
The organisers are desperately seeking volunteers with suitable equiped 4WD's to assist with
water stops and general convoy movements.
Anyone who is able / willing to assist, please E-Mail
marc16ATbigpond.com (Replace AT with @)
Assistance with Fuel / permits, etc. will be provided where possible
Regards
Rolande

If anyone is available. This is a great way to learn the ropes of doing a Simpson crossing if you haven't yet done the Simpson. Also usually it can help cover the costs as fuel etc tend to be shared, depending on the arrangements you make with your bike rider.

Just a clarification: if you're a
water stop (as I have been, and hope to be again this year) you generally don't also get to have a rider to help with costs (and you also don't have the hard work involved in supporting a rider!)
But I can really recommend it as a fantastic way to get to know the Simpson in relative safety (convoy; comms in place including several HF radios (everyone has UHF, of course); people in front and behind to get you out of the rough; and a way to meet some great people. Long hours, but heck.
A GREAT WAY TO GO!!

G'Day Chris,
If there is enough riders they TRY to assist the
water stop with fuel / entry permit costs out of the entry fee money.
Not looking likely this year due to the low number of riders but if it runs O.K. this year planning for next year will be better.
(lots of last minute withdraws due to rising costs)
