I now have a 2001 3.0TD Jack.

It has two batteries under the bonnet wired in parrallel. The one on the driver's side seems to have all the car's goodies wired in, while the one on the left appears to be connected to just the starter.

Is it possible to split the left hand battery off with a red arc or similar and use it as an auxilliary?

Thanks

Leave it alone, the earlier Jacks had one battery and there wasnt enough ompth to turn the motor over and run the computer and get it started when cold....see the motor relies on oil pressure to inject fuel, make sure you use the proper oil too...there is a couple of ones that work but most dont.Ask plenty of questions and buy a factory workshop manual, that has all the codes in it..

Yes you can split them......just make sure the one used for starting is the proper size and in good condition..

The reason they went to 2 batts was they didn't fully understand the starting probs they were having..

They will start fine on 1 batt if you are running the right oil and the glow plugs are all working
