G'day Mick , probably not connected with your problem , but I had the higher globes on my HJ75 Troopy for a while coming backward and forward from Mintabie to Broken Hill and got lighting problems that were traced down to the wiring coming from the headlight dipper that got overly hot because of the higher globes melting as a result I had to replace the complete light switch which was not cheap . I since use those blue light 55/60 globes , cant think of the brand , but they throw a pretty good light and if there are more jumpers than normal on the road I just use my hella bulllight , but these days I dont do many trips to the opal fields .

Hi Mick
Common problem when you upgrade the globes.
If you go to the cruiser site http://www.lcool.org/forum/viewforum.php?f=4 and check the forum there is an upgrade for the problem.

G'day Mick
Sadly the Toyota (s) have very piddly wiring at best.

I had dramas with my Troopy after a lighting up grade, I re worked all the "ground" wire points in the engine bay and fitted decent size battery cables, positive and negative (ground) the problem was solved.

You are pulling 200 watts through 2 high beam filaments, which both light up on high. amps = watts devided by volts, so 200 divided by 12 = 16 and a bit amps, per side. through thin wire.
Buy a Pirahna wiring loom that can handle that wattage, and your lights will turn white again.

put relays into the system and upgrade the wiring or go back to 60/55w globes
