Greetings guys - The misses wants to get rid of her POS hayundai ( pos= piece of s#&t) Now i have given her a budget of 10K to buy a small 4x4 - it will mainly be used as a commuter - and the occasional use on the sand - ( main vehicle i have now is Nissan Patrol 4.2 TDI) so the smaller 4x4 will come when friends want to come along also but don't have a 4x4
so was looking at the little suzuki Grand Vitara maybe around 2000 2001 model
can anyone suggest if this would be the go - or do you have something better for that price range - remember its going to be a cheap comuter most of the time
thanks
Boc

Good little vehicle, but fuel
tank is very vunable, but with higher profile tyres and a mild lift should be great. I think Stephen M had a couple he will give you more info. Other vehicle to consider are Pajero IO if you can find one, is the best off road of the littles and Xtrails get a good rap with aq good power to weight ratio and good reliabity.
Cheers Pete

Go back a couple of years earlier and have a look at the Daihatsu Feroza.
Later ones were a " widetrack " model. Good strong little unit and not too bad looking for a town car.
Was the last decent little 4wd they made before Toyota pulled rank on them and only let them make toy cars.

We've had a great run out of a Diesel Daihatsu Rocky but they are getting on a bit. Still they made them until the early 1990s I think.

Thanks to those who replied - i didn't consider the x-trail till it was mentioned as i though it would be a very expensive car -- i was wrong -- looks like i can get a decent one for about 12k
now was there any problems with the petrol ones at all ???

The x
Trails do not have low range. And do not like
water crossings as they are easy to Hydraulic.
I'd stick to the Zook great little vehicle.
