Does anyone know of a bike carrier that attaches to a rear mounted spare tyre such as that on a Jackaroo? I want to get one that can hold two bikes.

I saw one years ago on a Jackaroo that bolted to the centre of the spare tyre carrier. However, I haven't seen one since and just cannot remember a brand on it.

would suggest that this would be ill-advised unless spare is mounted to a swingaway carrier. If spare is mounted to door, putting further weight on it may result in a sagging door or even broken hinges...

I must admit, that did cross my mind.

You've convinced me, I think I'll go for a swagman carrier that mounts in the towbar receiver.

Thanks!

Haymen Reece do a bike carrier which fits into the towbar receiver and has an extended arm so to clear the spare.

The Thule SPARE ME fits 2 bikes on the spare wheel and is safe (MAX 30kg of bikes). It is not designed for off road use however for anything else it works perfectly.......have a look

If you want a hitch mount carrier I would look at the Thule ones as well. Look here

For info contact Thule Australia at www.thule.com.au......
