Like Doug I read it many moons ago. More recently I bought The Tom Cole Omnibus, a book of his diaries and short stories. Also very good.

Gday, Im not a reader BUT.....

After Hell West and Crooked,Try...
Riding the Wildman Plains
and
The Last Paradise
Both Tom Cole books.

Like I said Im not much of a reader but I was lent Hell West and Crooked by the owner of a station I used to work on because people used to read before the light went out ( I was educating them to drink so they got me to read).
At night when mustering we would sit around the fire and talk. To be able to talk to someone who knew Tom Cole and verify the stories I had read made me read two more books.

I think Ive only read one book since those!

So yeah! I second that! Its a good read , and True

Cheers

Yep, another one here that read his books a few years ago and was absolutely absorbed by them. Great storyteller indeed.

If you enjoy the Tom Cole story then I recommend Carl Warburton's "Buffalos:Adventures in Arnhem Land" The book is about the same terrotry that Tom Cole was in but 20 years prior.
Very good read but hard to find. You appreciate what development has taken place in the last few decades.
