Hi All,
Just a quick one. I will be towing an off road camper of approx 1300kg fitted with a Treg hitch on a 61 series Cruiser. Can I or Should I use load levelling gear and if so could you suggest brands. Obviously disconnect before the lumpy stuff.
TY
Johnny

Johnny,
I don't believe they can be used with a treg hitch due to the articulation of that style hitch. Consequently you would need to be attentive when you load your camper so that the tow ball weight is within the recommended 10% range.
It might sound a bit over the top but I use a set of kitchen scales to weigh everything I put in my van so I have everything distributed effectively. I also use the scales to check my towball weight, there's a way to do that using the bathroom scales and if you Google it you should find something.
There could be something on this site too in the section on towing.
If you make sure your vehicle and van are level I don't believe you should have any problems.

As far as I am aware there is no suitable system that keeps the articulation. With a 130kg trailer you should only have around 130 kgs on the hitch which wouldn't worry a 61 series. As said above keep the trailer
well balanced and keep the hitch weight around 10% of the trailer weight.
