Engel BATTPAK 56AMP How good are they,has any one got one

I was thinking about buying one to run the 40 ltr Engle then charging the battpak up thru the Piranah system problem i have is that i have heard that you can only use them only for 25% of there charge would this be any good for what i want it for and if this is the case how long could i run the engle for.cheer's GREENDOG

Hi Greendog,

I have one but haven't used it since I had a dual battery system fitted a couple of years ago.

I think about 2 days was the most I ever got out of it, but this was out of the car in cool conditions. You'd probably get 36hrs max in normal use.

As far as discharge goes, the instructions say not to go past 9.6 volts.

Having a dual battery system is a better option in my opinion, because you can run a bigger battery than 56ah. If you've got room under the bonnet, you also don't need to find room for the battpak.

Graeme,
I am amazed that you have 56 Amp/hr of battery capacity that you don't use.
Surely a simple slave cable from you Engel Batt to your Aux battery would be benificial in both the time you can run your system with a given amps draw and/or may even allow your Aux battery to remain as near to full capacity as possible for as long as possible which we all consider the best situation for any given battery.
Just a thought.
