We have a small Maltalier (Maltese Cavalier X).

Seems when we go away she sometimes gets sick after 1 - 2 hours on the road. Is there a cure or a way around this?

haven't had a dog for years now but we used to leave the window in the car down a tad so the mut could get some fresh air. She never puked in the car until she got real old (25 year old Border Collie).

But fear of traveling in the car can also make the dog sick I believe.

My parnet's dog had a similar problem, the vet prescribed that he (the dog) take 1/4 of a valium tablet before a trip.

Friend has a Greyhound (whippet actually) which used to be (very) sick everytime that the dog went in the car - albeit in his cage in the rear section of the wagon....That was with the Mazda Tribute 4wd they had.

To their astonishment, when they got a Subaru Outback about a year ago, the problem vanished. Dog has never been sick in the Suby.
They still own the Mazda and yes dog has still been sick the couple of times they've tried it again...

(Yes, i too own an Outback but I have to say that I don't really love it as a car, just good transport).
Not sure how much that helps your plight but it does reinforce the importance of good suspension and damping (and not softly sprung) vehicle....
Cheers.
