I got a replacement gearbox as mine chewed 5th gear.

Heat Switch- after starting it the day after getting it back i put the Heat button on, (next to the power mirror switch in GU) and it seemed to lose power like something was drawing but not doing what it should do, it usually increases the revs from 900rpm to about 1100rpm and warms the engine faster than an idle, and ideas as to why this could not be working?

Sub Tank- i noticed the sub tank light on the dash had not turned off after starting so i pushed the sub tank button... nothing it does not light up the button like it should and it does not turn the light on the dash off, i dont know if my sub is engaged or not and have not yet driven far enough to find out. I have disconnected the battery to reset the ecu but it all remains the same.

Any help on this issue is appreciated.

Cheers Mike

How long have you disconnected the battery for I think it needs to be at least a couple of minutes for it to reset properly?

Hi Mike,
What makes you think the ECU needs resetting?

If that equipment was working before the gearbox was removed and replaced but not after the job was complete then wouldn't it be reasonable to assume that something disconnected or damaged during the gearbox work caused the fault?

As such ownership of the problem and the repair would lie with the person you paid to change the gearbox. That is providing you paid someone to do the repair.

Otherwise, back track over all the wiring that was disconnected, moved or disturbed during the gearbox replacement.

The problem will most likely lie with a crushed cable, some shorted cores, something just plain not connected or two very similar connectors crossed over and connected to the wrong partner.

Geoff

Hi Geoff, i only think that because i had a long range tank fitted and a problem with the sub tank light afterwards, was fixed by disconnecting battery and it reset the computer, ill try it again for longer this time and then post the progress with the repairer after if it does not fix the problem, the only wires he said were touched was the reverse light and one other harness i cant remeber its name. cheers

Hows it going Mike,

Have you looked at your fuses, replace any blown ones , if they go again you have a problem if not maybe something got shorted during the gearbox change.

You would have to be taking this sort of problem straight back to where you got the work done.

Glenn.

Mke if you have a dual battery system you will need to disconnect both the battery earths for at least 5 minutes.
This was the procedure in my GU.
I used to have a handle on life, but it broke.

Cheers Dodg.
