Well previous thred was 50/50 for ebay. In the end decided better or for worse, to purchase named quality. Decided on the Yamaha 1000 Inverter Gen. Mainly because it has a stated continuious run time of 12 hrs compaired to Honda 8 hrs and ebay items 4-5hrs. All are about the same weight so I guess motor technoligy must be better. Hope for years of reliable service. Thanks to all that replied. Ow that hurts the back pocket. Cheers Tony

Good choice Tony, I have one and it has been a great generator. You will find it was
well worth the extra money.

I bought on last week, hard to start the 1st time but after that no worries.
Heading to the Kimberlys this Saturday so it will get a good work out.

I had a honda red one, sold it, tried other stuff, eventually regretted it and bought a yamaha blue. Comparo, the honda red started first time and ran smoothly, the yamaha blue does not start first time and does not run smooth. But really that's it, and bearing in mind that my Honda CX500 started first time and ran smoothly and my earlier Yamaha XS250 did not start first time and did not run smoothly, t's fine by me cause it's just the traits of the brand and both are as reliable as anything.

An old quote goes like this:
"The bitterness of poor quality last long after the sweetness of price is forgotten"
Sthil use it now, but it goes way back before them.
Good luck with the Genny, Colin.
