Hi Guys, heading up to Fraser next week. Can somebody tell me how busy it is in terms of getting a decent
campsite, given it is school holidays in Vic and Qld?

It's always very busy on school holidays. I try not to go there then. There are plenty of beach campsites available but you'll likely have plenty of neighbors. If you can get up there early (Saturday) you should be able to pick a nice spot.

well that blows that idea.. was thinking of heading up there for 3 of my 4 days off. I live across the road from a school.. you'd think I would remember when the school holidays roll around!

Theres a couple spots in that phot where is reackon i could fit my tent - LOL
School holidays is pretty busy, but you can still get a decent spot if you keep your eyes peeled and prepared to investigate a little and get a bit lucky.
Were heading up there for week 2 of the school holidays - I generally find most campers are there on week one, and week two is a little less populated.

Havn't been to Fraser for a while.
Good to see the surf has dropped in size to make it easier for the kids, and they have installed street lights for
the beach. :o)
Now I can play dodgems with the predestrians. :o))

If your willing to explore then you can avoid the crowds which always stick to the main most popular areas. Fraser has a lot of old logging and mining tracks that allow the opportuniy to explore some great history.
We did a magic trip there a few years ago and long to go back to do it again. It was for 8 days over new years and although there were plenty of people, the
places we stay hardly had anyone.
Our trip report ->
Fraser Island 03/04

Heaps, and I mean heaps of people coming through the tolls this morning to get a headstart on the school holidays before the usual mum and dad finish work friday afternoon then head off..
And where was everyone going when I asked them?
