Hi Matthew,
Not a bad
camp area on a warm long weekend but if you want to get a spot near the river be early. The only downside is that it is accessable to cars etc as
well so can get crowded.
Been a few times and its relaxing and there is plenty of room generally but most sites are a short walk from the river, and youre not far from
Augusta etc.
A small fee is payable to a caretaker type person from memory.
Might be cold on the September long weekend.
Regards Alan.

The
Blackwood Classic Boat race is usually on this long weekend and this
camp ground is an overnight stop for the event, so it will definately be busy.

Hi Matt,
You could try Canebreak Pool And Rapids Pool off Sues road, we camped there last year and is a great little
camp ground run by CALM with about 20 individual sites, bbq's,WC. As already said every where down south will be busy.
If you can get down there early you would stand a chance of getting a good site.
Regards
Col

Discrete
camping.
If you have 4wd - then rather than staying at a designated
campsite - why not discrete
camp at any of the myriad of little tracks off the two roads that run parralell to the
Blackwood - down onto the river?
OK you need to be a little more prpeared in as far as not having the provided loos etc - but at least you don't have to slum it with the boat race folks.
If your not fixated on
camping at the
Blackwood - why not slip down to the Donnelly River instead! - No boat race that weekend and a few nice discrete
camping spots upstream from the Donnelly River Winery round Boot road etc ;o)
Cheers
