The Explorer
NEW Release version of OziExplorer is now available - significant change is the direct support for the Garmin Colorado, Oregon, Nuvi and Zumo GPS receivers!! Good stuff. Saves a lot of stuffing around.
The latestRelease Version 3.95.4r (Sep-2008)
Fixes
* Minor fixes relating to map import.
Changes
* Added support for NV Digital Charts. These are imported using the BSB import option.
* Added direct support for the Garmin Colorado, Oregon, Nuvi and Zumo GPS receivers. OziExplorer reads and writes the GPX files stored in the GPS when it is connected to the PC as a disk drive.
* Added Garmin symbols to GPX export and import if OziExplorer is configured to use a Garmin GPS.
* Minor changes to work better with the Australian Natmap 2008 raster maps.

Mate,
Can you use Oziexplorer on a Nuvi 760 as moving maps without a laptop?
Cheers

Hello - I dont think so as the NUVI doesn't put out the required data stream (NMEA/PVT) as do "normal" handhelds. But I could be wrong. Nuvis have there limitations despite being proclaimed the be all and end all by some. The support for Garmins in the latest version of Ozi relates to waypoint and track upload/download only, though again not sure how that works with all Nuvis as some dont even record your track.
Cheers
Greg

No virus according to Mr Norton. Suspect you are getting a false alarm.

Thanks Greg,
I agree with your assessment.
I have been using 3.95q for sometime now and have never had a problem with it. I have also been using Avast for sometime and both programs work
well together.
When I downloaded, at the very end Avast told me their was '
Sign of 'Win32:Virut' present and the installation failed.
I decided this could not be right so I turned off the virus protection and downloaded again. Installed the update and then turned on the virus protection.
When I opened Oziexplorer to check that the update had installed correctly it opened, stopped, Avast threw up a warning and Oziexplorer refused to work.
System restore back, run virus check, no virus present and everything is working correctly.
I update my software once a week if updates are available so I am at a loss on why this update seems to have failed.

For clarification I am still running 3.95q.
I have not installed the latest update for Oziexplorer.
Cheers.

No worries - you can never be too careful when it comes to viruses. I got nailed by one about 3 months ago (my own stupid fault). Had to do system restore from disc - didn't lose any data but have had to slowly re-install non functioning programs.
The new update has only minor changes that wont be relevant to many so nothing wrong with sticking to the beast you know. I have a Colorado (soon Oregon) so new version is a great step forward. Wish he would implement direct connectivity for GPS units running OziCE. Im sick of cutting and pasting waypoint and track files.
Cheers

Hi Feral,
I use Avast Professional and experienced the same issue as you. I 'stopped on-access protection', completed the installation, and ran ozi with the protection still stopped. Works fine. But turning the protection back on, the program is prevented from running again. I don't have a registered version of Ozi yet. For me the issue is with the Trial and unregistered 'full' version.
Cheers,
-Nick

btw, I am referring to the latest trial "3.95.4n Free Trial". I trialled a previous version once before and Avast had no problem with it.
