G'day Footy,

A timely reminder with the school holidays just around the corner. I might add that we have been there many times with our kids (before the various culls etc) and never had a problem and in fact I would say that seeing them would have been one of the trip highlights.

We have always had a healthy respect as they are wild animals and except for one occasion when no.2 son was about 12 we didn't give them a chance. On this occasion we were at Lake McKenzie and my son had been swimming out to a point in the lake and we he arrived (probably 200 meters away) several dogs (4 or 5) ran to the point where he was walking around - he saw them coming and dived into the water swimming back to where we were. Don't know their intentions but it didn't look good and it made us more cautious with the kids.

Kind regards

I've been there around 8 or 10 times in the past. They have never bothered me or mine, either on Fraser or in the bush. But I am naturally cautious of them, especially since I lost a smelly boot to one at Purni :)))

and don't forget the snakes, there was a large death adder in our campsite at Black Rocks campsite at Bunjalung last weekend.

Our 3yr old said, "get Bindy daddy"

And I do carry a snake bite kit.

Hi Footy

I have lost count of the amount of times, we have been to Fraser,
seen lots of Dingos, and never once had a problem, even before the
Brumbies were removed, People have to be Cautious and teach
there Younsters not to go near them ect, and not to Feed them,
I know they are fairly Brazen, and they will come up to you,
reminded me of the time we stayed at Kingfisher Bay Resort, and
one evening a Dingo walked into the Dining Area, he was promptly
chased away, we found out later that one of the Kitchen Hands, was
feeding it Food Scraps, I know they are a Pest in some Rural Areas
but its a shame to here they are being Destroyed, when they Bite
somebody.

Cheers
Daza

Treat them with the respect they deserve , dont trust them and dont feed them.
In 10 trips the groups Ive been with have had 2 problems with dingo's, one bloke basically got mugged for the fish he had just caught in the surf, he didnt like the odds, 5 dogs vs 1 so he threw the fish one way and legged it the other. The other was on the Fraser Is cleanup a couple of years ago, a very cheeky dingo climbed into one of the 4x4 while the occupants were out picking up rubbish.
Snakes, yep keep an eye out for them, teach your kids to look out for them and leave them alone, its worked so far.
