I have the opportunity to do an exchange on the standard 265/70-16s that came on my 4.2 litre GU with 285/75-16s for $65 per tyre. Orig haven't covered 200km yet and the 285's are new.

Opinions?

Gidday Hilly,

What sort of tyres are the 285's. I had the same option when I bought my new 3.0TD Patrol. $600 to swap to 285/75/16 Cooper A/T. Great tryes had them on my last GU in fact they had only done 5,000kms so I actually swappped them onto my new one anyway. For $260 not bad depending on what sort of tyre.

Hope it helps

Mick

No probs with ride/handling/power/economy, Mick?

The tyres are Bridgestone Dueler AT's, the ones made in Oz and I've been pretty happy with the 265/75-16 Bridgies on my Cruiser.

Hilly,

Little different as each rev of the tyre covers more ground. I think it's about 6-7% difference in the speedo and a poofteenth in power (unnoticable). Much rather the 285 to the 265's, look better too.

Pop into a tyre place and ask for a trade in - the $65 will look like a good deal.Cheers,

Hilly, I fart in your general direction and blow my nose at you. Don't scratch the new bus unless I'm there to hear the screeching of "sticks on paint". Have a good weekend off....B@#stard.
Cheers

Your mother was a hamster and your father smelt of elderberries..!! I show my private parts to your auntie, you empty headed animal food trough wiper!

I've got brown dust on it!! Argghh. No scratches yet though. Tomorrow the 285's go on. After that there's only the suspension to do.

Ridepro or OME ....... that's the next question I guess.

Giday Hilly. Depends on where you drive. If you cruise the city or frequent the high country, relatively close to civilisation, then run any size you can (legally). If you want to explore further afield, eg, outback deserts etc, then keep the 265's. as the standard fit.
