Well actually the pricing is now competitive. The 40L waeco is $900 and the Engel 37L can be negotiated down to about $800.

I've prodded and poked both lately.

The only real diff is the engel is actually much bigger than the equivalent waeco, perhaps you can put that down to superior insulation, I dunno.

Having had a waeco for 6yrs (or was that 8?), I'm tempted to give the Engel a go when I upgrade next.

Checked out the new Engel Eclipse last week, as I thought this fridge would be a good option for me. Came away a little disappointed with the fit and finish of the plastic case.

I have not doubt the refrigeration component is still as good as the others, but I think Engel have let themselves down by trying to compete with cheaper brands.

I purchased a standard steel 40L Engel 5 months ago.
I have a mate who works for the state distributor and he told me to leave the plastic one alone. It’s a cheapy brought out to compete with the lower end of the market. It’s still a good fridge with the same quality compressor and condenser but it has other features missing.
