My Triton has developed a loud clunck when its shifting from 2nd to 3rd especially in low ratio. The problem is worse when its been under heavy load in 1st or 2nd and you ease up when not under load anymore and it shifts to 3rd.The problem became so bad on a recent trip that i avoided using 3rd altogether by constantly changing from high to low ratio using 1st and 2nd gears.
Its hardly noticeable driving along the road in 2wd and is difficult to demonstrate the problem to the dealer. The dealer said it could be sudden release of torque build up and to shift manualy in heavy 4wd conditions.I dont agree with this and it defeats the purpose of having an auto.
I wondered if anyone else has had experiance with this problem?

It is a good site, I have the Manual. I don't recall seeing any autos with a similar problem to yours. There are a couple of Mitsubishi dealer employees on the site so they may be able to help.
