Any one of you nice ppl out there ever used a Diesel generator for Camping/Outbacking?
As I think, using a Diesel powered Car makes sense to have a Diesel powered generator.
Love to hear your view please

I’d love to have one but when I searched the internet lately I couldn’t find one small enough.
I also would be interested in buying a diesel if it suited my specs.
I wanted approx 2.5 kva weighing around 30 kilos.
In frustration I brought a petrol model – Inverter type is the way to go – More economical and less noise at low load than the conventional type (but twice the price).

If you find one that's small and puts out around 1000w and is quiet, and light, let me know .... if not, that's probably why. I haven't found one.

I agree, it would be good. Diesel cooktop, diesel hot
water, diesel central heating and the genny would be good perhaps solar will fill the bill better next time.

camping gennie mate

Have a look at the Yanmar range at
Macfarlane
Not as pretty as a Honda perhaps but claimed to be silent
We bought a big one from them a few years back. Pretty professional too. The one we have hear would power a
camp site well and proper but you need a Kenworth truck to carry the Cummins motor and genset.

I bought one of tradetools very similar to the Yanmar in the picture. It has 3.3kw and is a pull start diesel. Very loud and walks trough the shed when it runs. It sounds like it's breaking down any second. No good for
camping at all.
I'm going to make a trolley and rubber mount the whole thing and fit a sandwich box around it soon. Job number 208.
cheers
Reiner

That's a great buy, only the Net weight: 68kgs is a bit steep, who is caring it around?
but thanks so much for your input and interest..

Small diesels are notoriously noisy, they also tend to vibrate badly
That little Yanmar pictured, I have the same motor on a pump and it rattles like crazy, beaks engine mounts and frames and is very noisy but does a great job. Maybe the gennies have better muffling, but the noise is a knocking noise not exhaust.
Wouldnt want it anywhere near a
camp site Id reckon

Just get a Honda EU3000 (Super Quiet) you won't regret it. Not diesel though.
