I know that it's going to be pretty sticky on the Strez track when we head out there (which is next week), but have been told it will be pretty cold at night. is this true....Just trying to figure out if we need to take any warm clothes along with us.

Hi Hayley & Demc.
I never travel without spare track pants in the bottom of my bag.
Enjoy your trip.

About this time last year we travelled the
Birdsville track which got down to about 2 degrees C. at night.
Pretty cold when you are sleeping under canvas.
(We were in swags).
Cheers

We have a nifty tool in our Weather pages for most areas that shows the climatic trends for every month of the year - this pulls BOM data over many years to show the averages, highs, lows etc. This data appears in all related trek notes, so for you, simply go to the
Strzelecki Trek Note and you can check the stats - it shows the mean minimum in September is 12.7 degrees Celcius, not that cold really. August however shows a mean minimum of 8.4 and October is up to a mean minimum of 15.8.
Hope this helps,
MM

Hi there. Heading up that way this week to cross the Simpson West to East, fourth time in 4 years in late Sept/early Oct, and weather has been cool to warm nights, warm to hot days each time so far. The BOM climate info makes it clear that overnight temps are usually into the teens, and that has been my experience also. Daytime temps and sun mean there's more problem keeping white skin covered than there is keeping the frostbite at bay at night! But yes, some thing a bit thicker than a tee shirt isn't a bad idea, just in case. And it can rain up there as
well, so be prepared!
Enjoy yourselves
Chris
