Mine does it too (94 model)..mainly in the front.
I've narrowed it down to (without techo terms)..
The rod that runs from the steering box across to the left wheel comes in contact with the rod that runs from the left wheel across to the right wheel...
There's not much clearance there, and with a bit of give it tends to 'clunk' ...

Take a look at your panhard rod bushes, My 80 was doing that when i went over kerbs or did any offroad work, tracked it down to the panhard bushes & replaced them- Problem solved!

Are you running poly bushes in your front spring hangers ???? They tend to "clunk" when moving side to side where rubbers don't.
Cheers

My 1999 Troopie did the same thing in the front.
Replaced the rubber bushes and mounting rubbers on the stabiliser bar and the clunk disappeared.

Darrell
You say you have greased the shackles, so you don't have poly bushes. Believe your dealer, the clunk is caused by
the springs sliding sideways on the shackle pins. My 80 model has done it for 20 years. If it bothers you placing a washer on the pin would stop it. Eric
