Used Masterpull 9mm I got from USA Paul

I brought 18m for about $150.

Deliberately got shorter piece , not just because its costly
but because ->

A/ it can be damaged and I prefer to make up the extra
distance with 2 or 3 winch extension straps.
This is just so much more flexible.

B/ Shorter rope gives effectivily more pull power

C/ Issue with this rope is that it can be overheated and
using 2 or 3 layers helps it cool better.

D/ The issue you don't here much about with this rope is that the outer layer can easily pull thru a lower layer and can jam. This approach lessens this risk

By the way - its ease of use makes it really worthwhile
despite the downsides.

I got mine from the USA as well.....

http://www.okoffroad.com/

I got the thinner stuff (9mm I think it is), but after having been to the Outback Challenge a few months ago, I'm wishing I'd got the 12mm stuff....that's what all the comp blokes use. However, given that my winch is lucky to get used more than once a year, I spose I'll just stick with what I've got. I bought 30 meters plus a big yella safety hook and a aluminium hoarse.... all good gear and quick arrival....

I got a 30m roll of Dynamica rope. Reason? Local purchase and good backup if it breaks or I need it. Cant remember the cost but it was more than steel rope. I got it cause of the steel rope spikes too and reckon its the bees knees.

Got / use 30mts of "Amsteel Blue" which is rated at 19,200 lbs on our 12,000 lbs winch ,, cost was somewhere round the $200 mark delivered from the USA ,,, www.cseoffroad.com ,,,, its light , it floats , my young fella [9yr old] can unspool it ,,, used 5-6 times on our last trip when the centre diff lock decided to give up the ghost on the OTL.

Paul,

give Roger from Beadlock Australia a call. He imports the Dynamica rope , good stuff , never had a problem and he will look after you and give you great service and back up if you ever need it.

In any case , who cares what it cost as long as it gets you out of trouble one day and this stuff will just do that with ease and no damage to your hands.
