Will the 1.5 width seat from an 80 series fit? If so I have one plus the driver seat.

Mobi

What I am after is a single seat to replace the 2/3 passenger seat.

The bolt holes are about 310 mm a part where the seat is attached to the floor.

If thats what you have then I am very interested.

AH! Rats! I have the 1.5 or I guess what you call the 2/3 which is the original fit of the 80 series. Never mind maybe some one needs what I have!

I would also look at a set of recaro seats if they fit.

Thanks Bob

Boo Boo, I got some seats from the wreckers and welded the Landcruiser base to the seats. If you don't weld get somebody to do it. Still heaps cheaper than buying new seats.
I tried to find single seats for my 75 Ute for ages, to many people have the same idea. Seats from the wreckers $80 for two.
cheers

Reiner

Thats an option I will look at if all else fails.

My reason is quite simple, I would not have a clue what type of seat to buy.

Thanks for your help.

We fitted the driver's seat from a wrecked 75 series to our (1991) 75 series after taking out the 2/3rd seat.

Cheers

Neil and Lyne

I have started looking at wreckers on the net and am waiting for some replies.

The single seats appear to be a little hard to get, but I will be patient.

Hi Boo Boo, I too live in NSW and after converting my 79series from a "3 seater" to a "2 seater" in the way of buying 2 new leather bucket seats off "Ebay" ($500) and having them fitted by my local mechanic using the original TOYOTA runners ($600). I was then told I needed an engineers cert ($240) as I didn't use "Original Toyota Seats", the next step was to inform my insurance company of the changes. I was then told I needed to inform the "RTA" as well, who in-turn asked for the "Engineers Cert" and a "Blue Slip". Having completed all the necessary steps at a total cost of $1370.00, I can say that it is definitely worth the trouble. Both my passenger and myself can now spend many hours touring through this fantastic country both on and off road in total comfort.

Did the same with Falcon seats, $80 the pair from the wreckers, about $10 for the flat and angle from Steelmart.
Did all the fitting myself, be careful if you have to drill any extra holes to mount new brackets, the bloody fuel tank is just below the floor pan, as I found out to my embarassment. Hope the silastic is still holding.

Cheers,

Redbakk and Dennis

If I bought, say, commodore seats where would I take them to get fitted?

I know it sounds like a dumb question, but I am near useless with welding etc. However give me a bit of timber and I can knock up a nice piece of furniture,
