No you can print it out but it is received as a PNG image file.

all is needed is a small home made box with some wires in it. two male 1/8" mono jacks and plug one into the output on the HF radio (remote speakers) the other in the line in plug on a PC.

Some software and Vella.. LOL

Cheers

Well done Richard!

A friend who was pretty keen on HF, used to do this for the fun of it when out bush. I think he just used the computer microphone next to the HF speaker.

I have to admit that I'd rather see what the weather is when it arrives. If I get stuck out there, all the better - I'm looking forward to phoning up work one day to tell them the "bad" news that I'm stuck out there and won't be back for a while :-)))

Phil

Same here it was one of those things I read in thye VKS-737 news, and have tried to get it to work, I remember 20 odd years ago getting weather faxes sent and fax out about 2 foot of paper to see if it was going to be OK to batch up concrete no internet in those days

Cheers

Richard

p.s. had it hapen to me when I lived in Cairns, the only thing I didn't have to call the boss as he could see us on the news...

Hi Richard

Interesting - you've got the mid-level pressure chart, i.e. it gives the heights (in metres) at which the pressure is 500 hectopascals (about half the pressure at sea level). No doubt familiar to people who fly planes. Can you get the surface chart too?

Cheers, John

And here is the Software Required

I'm sure there are a few others who also do the software around also.

Hi John's

John R , its all new to me I would not have known "Interesting - you've got the mid-level pressure chart" thats what came through, I have started doing some reading on it so that will help me understand.

the software I used is Jvcomm 32

its seems to work OK but I'm still learning

Cheers

Richard

Thanks all for the info. So heaps of weather charts available at particular times. What I've found most useful though when going out driving is the simple extended text forecast for the state, which is on the BoM website. Anyone know if this is possible to get by other means? I know a similar report is given live during the Qld Country Hour on Local ABC stations - do the other states also give an equivalent report from BoM during the program?

Cheers, John
