I am looking at buying a canvas touring tent and in particular the Diamantina Lachlan 12'x8'6" or the Diamantina Outrigger 12'x9'. Does anyone have any experience with Diamantina tents?

www.kangarootentcity.com.au

The lachlan tent has an 'Extra heavy reinforced PVC floor' and the outrigger has a '14X14 PE heavy duty floor'. Can anyone explain the differences between these floor types?

I am also considering an oztrail tourer 9 plus, but after reading the archives on this tent I am not so sure. I know there are plenty of good reports but it is the bad reports that have got me thinking.

I know a lot of people will say to buy a southern cross or freedom tent but the budget won't stretch that far. I have also looked at the Primus COI tent, but again would prefer to not have to spend that much money.

Any advice/help comments would be appreciated

Thanks

Mick

Don't know about specific tents but a bloke at the tent shop told me that the floor weave is either, as I recall, 10x10, 12x12 or 14x14 with 14x14 best. I guess that's the strands per inch or cm or whatever.

Mick,

Can't comment on the others but I just purchased the Tourer9 plus. I was aware of the feedback on here about leaking and had also had a look at the lightweight floor.
I put mine up and left it up for about a month and let it get several good dousings of rain (not just a hose). I went and checked after the first few days of rain and there was plenty of water inside. Mopped it up and left it. After drying out and receiving its next lot of rain a few days to a week later, not a drop inside. Same again with the next rain. Dried it out and packed it up. Will be going away for a week in the next few days so will report back then. In my opinion its a hell of a lot of tent for the money. From the feedback I read, many people didn't wet them in properly, a hose just won't cut it.
I went to the Southern Cross factory and a great product, just an extra $1000 I couldn't justify.
