I'm heading off again to the Wonnangatta in early November (during the week) as soon as the Zeta track is open. For the first time I'll be towing a trailer.

A few of you will know that the top end of the track is a bit on the skinny side, and passing is a bit of give and take.

I'd be interested to hear from others how they handled a trailer in this section when 4wd's were coming from the opposite direction.

I usually radio down (or up) but the signal doesn’t go far in that country.

The old rule use to be, 'give way to the fella coming down' but that doesn’t seem to apply any more.

Regards

Kim

Plenty of opportunities to pass & mid week you'd be unlikely to meet anyone. Calling on the CB would have limited success as there is no single channel everyone uses. Most towing trailers have a lead vehicle go down 1st to warn of tight situations but assume you're on your own.
Need to be cautious when towing on Zeka spur as after rain quite a few cars have come to grief on the red clay sections 3/4's of the way down.
As for the old rule up gives way to down probably wont always apply in steep hills as often it's easy to stop coming down but impossible to restart if forced to pull over when climbing. (Particularly with a trailer)

Gidday Craig

I don't think I agree with that statement. Going down a steep wet track can be a real bother, as distinct from getting up it. Hense the old bush rule.

I'm only talking about the top section.

Either way, somebody has to back off.

Gidday Hairy

We've got more rules down here than you can poke a stick at!!!!

'Get outa the bloody way I'm coming through" is just another rule.

LOL
