Hello All,
Just returned from a trip on the
Murray River both paddling and driving.
Everyone is talking about the state of the Murray [lack of
water etc.] but just as big of problem is the rubbish on the banks.
We decided it must be the home for broken unwanted chairs as we seen plenty. Let alone every other type of rubbish imaginable.
The one that got us the most and always does why can't people use a shovel when toileting in the scrub[its not hard].
Camping with someone elses day old excreta is not my idea of fun.
Apart from those gripes a good time was had by eight blokes.
Regards Gary

I know exactally what you mean.We hired a house boat for 10days in January from
Echuca.Every chance we got we would moor and do a bit of exploring on the bank. And no matter where we were there was piles of rubbish.Makes you sick. You had to watch where you walked, crappa paper everywhere, bottles, cans, old chairs, garbo bags of rubbish, you name it it was there.
That was the only downer of a great trip.

hi Gary, couldn't agree with you more, we often
camp on the Murray and 99.9% of the time have to give the site a good clean up first, just on our last trip there we arrived at the site and it was covered in used condoms (really nice thing to see with the
young kids asking what is it and trying to pick them up), lots of dirty nappies and of course all the 'usual' type rubbish, the thing that gets us even madder is that these so called people have to go passed a big bumpster on the way in and out and can't even use it, we did work out that most of the rubbish seems to be the locals as we found letters and stuff with the addresses on from the next town in a pile of rubbish dumped there, which i gave quite happerly to the local police officer. but what worries us is that we the camper are going to loose out in the long run when councils start shutting these
places down, and i'm sure that 99% of true tourers or camper wouldn't dream of leaving anything behind except foot prints.
sorry if i've gone on a bit but it's really annoying chris.

Reminds me of that great old song by Arlo Guthrie - 'Alice's Restaurant'.

unfortunately with the drought it has concentrated all the filthy bogans in the one area, Its a wonder you made it back alive with all the absolute idiots and their wakeboard boats up there.
I give the murray a massive berth nowdays.
