I wouldn't say its a well used route but it is used nonetheless

Haven't been that way for about 5 years now but last time I went that way the roads were good. Outback roads in SA are usually in good condition as they are not prone to much rain...lol Drive to the conditions and you'll be fine

Cheers

I drove this route years ago in a campervan. I was travelling from Coober Pedy home to WA and thought it would save quite a bit of time which it did. I presume mail trucks use it regularly as they did in those days. I was told if its wet it can be a bit of a problem. The roadhouse at Glendambo is the first place people stop after travelling the route so a phone call (08) 8672 1030 just prior to your departure will probably give you the answer to your question on road conditions.
Enjoy the trip.

poppyg2,

We travelled part of that road about two weeks ago and it was a good formed dirt road with its share of the usual corrugations but overall ok. We didn't do the whole length but turned off for Mt Ive Station. The road you are intending to travel is the more used road down to Wirrulla. We saw two or three other vehicleswhile we were out there and the publican at Kingoonya said its used fairly often.

While we were at Kingoonya there was an elderly couple who'd driven a combi van through from Ceduna and apart from complaining about the corrugations they got through fine.

We enjoyed the drive, liked Kingoonya and intend to go back to have another look soon.

Hope you enjoy your trip

Don't forget Googs if you have the time. Just another alternative.

Hi poppy

We went from Glendambo to Wirrulla in 2006. It was a nice route, not much traffic (mainly just a few 'locals', often in sedans) but we met bad corrugations through much of the road, although probably not a lot worse that some of the roads we went on this year. Enjoy the drive.
