4 vehicles - Rick, Matt, Mike, and myself headed off on Friday morning hoping that the rains hadn't reached as far east as
Hyden and up towards
Coolgardie.
Phoned through to a mate from the top of
Wave Rock on Friday at about 11.30 or so to let the EO Team know that the Hyden/
Norseman Rd and outlying roads are closed, it was peeing down.
Never seen as much
water lying around. The tracks that we could go on were very slushy so I'd imagine that the others would of been treacherous. The
Holland Track was still wet last
Easter so after Thursday night's & Friday's I suspect it could be inundated in many
places.
We ended up meandering South along the Holland Way and Out via
Boyagin Rock between
Brookton & Pinjelly. Found great secluded
camp sites each night.
Friday night's
camp site just outside of
Hyden was a great find although it was wet and miserable but once we got the fire going and wet wood dried out it turned out a good night.
Saturday night's
camp was off the Sutherland Track Road near
Nyabing. Really secluded and plenty of firewood which was good as it was a cold night.
Last night saw us
camping just west of
Boyagin Rock and it was great to wake up to fog and a crystal clear morning.
Pity the weather could not of been the reverse of what it was.
Who knows if it was we may of got stuck some place inaccessible.
Not the weekend we had planned, no opportunity to use the little stick, but great scenery, great company (thanks guys), and great campsites, with only us there.
What more can a man ask for?

Yer Dave very disapointing, but we did get to see bits of the state I'd never seen before. Holland's
tank was good as
water was flowing into it. That site would also make an excellent
campsite as there was a large level area, soft ground for tenting, shade and stuff to look at.

Hi Duncan, sorry to hear that all the roads were closed on you, but still you had a good time anyway and that is what it is all about, if you can't go one way- try something else and enjoy it. What you saw on the weekend you would not have seen if the
Holland track was open.
Cheers
Deanna

Fully agree with you Deanna we would most likely never have ever ventured through the areas we did. Was good to see everything green for a change and the vast areas of canola also looked good.

Hey Duncan,
Always better to be sittin' round a fire with a beer in your hand than standing round a bogged car with a shovel.
The Holland Tracks not going anywhere.
Cheers......Lionel.

You're right there Lionel. Thinking of maybe doing the track again next year, another 4 day long weekend; maybe Anzac Day or even Labor Day but I think Labor Day could be a tad hot.
