It appears every one agrees that we should trade our 1990 diesel Pajero in for one of the newer common rail models.
This starts a new question.
Looking on Redbook, it appears that the power changed from 2007 onwards, up only minorly.
Before that, the engine appears unchanged back to late 2002.
I got told by a dealer yesterday that from 2007 onwards, the diesels have a 10,000km service interval, oil & filter included.
Is this correct, or does that apply to the 2002 onwards models???
If I can buy a 5 year old model & save some dollars, I'd be happier, obviously.
Thanks.

I dont think your trade would be worth much as we traded a 2007 Paj diesel 200,000 ks and got 6K against a second hand V6 3.5 Paj 23k advertised price. ended up handing over 15k plus car.
Now for my post to assist in your choice. I am assuming you are looking at a Pajero.
Just did a trip Bris to Flinders towing Camper Trailers one paj was 3.2 diesel and my car 3.5 petrol.Fuel was 11litre/100 ks for diesel and 13 litres for petrol per 100kms but due to higher cost of diesel there was little saving in out of pocket expenses. Given the extra cost of the diesel car in Purchase we came to the conclusion that Dieael vehicle may not be worth while. There are a number of good quality second hand petrols in
brisbane at around 20k but a second hand diesel 3.2 litre ex Government is around 30k (police vehicles usually) . I hope this information assists you in your choices

NP Pajeros have a 15K interval with the option of 7,500km changes of oils/filters when worked harder than normal etc.
Seems like a change (simplification) of their service intervals to avoid yet another confusing statement.
I'd change it more often than not, regardless of the service requirements.

Pete & Rose.
I have a 2.5 turbo mitsy and a 2.7 turbo mercedes. The merc is a dream to drive and cheaper to buy and service than the mitsy. I recomend a 5 year old ML270 is better and cheaper than a new paj.
Do yourself a big favour and drive one before you decide. Eric.
