After reading a number of reviews over the last few weeks on whether i should be using 10/40 or 15/40, i have been using the latter since i bought my Navara STR in 2004 and never had a problem.

So i sent an email to Nissan and my local dealer where i bought the navara, i got back two different answers to my question.

My question in not so many words was...........................

should i be using 15w/40 which u guys (Nissan) told me to use or
change to 10w/40 and there answer was that they still use

15w/40 Professional Castrol Magnatec on the STR and

10w/40 on the current STX

Nissan said 10w/40 and dealer said 15w/40

since i have had no problems i am going to stick with 15w/40

at this stage!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

cheers,

Lance

I thought there was a Nissan directive come out some years ago telling you to use 10W40 in the ZD30 motors.

Read it here.

The spares dept in your Nissan Dealer will sell you their 10W40 oil at a very reasonable price. Its just the service depts that confuse the issue. There's not a lot of difference between 10/40 and 15/40 - the latter is just a bit thicker at startup, so a bit slower to get around.
