Well I am totally confused on opening the pack from my friendly Nissan dealer............what do I do with the one off pad ???

I think you will find that the odd one is a "signal" pad designed to warn of low pad thickness buy giving an audible signal when in contact with the disc. Fit it in the place of the worst worn pad for it to work best.

I fiited a set today , and all the pads have a wear indicator . don,t worry about it put them in just make sure that they are left an right in the correct side .

Agreed, all pads should have the wear indicator fitted. Me thinks the nissan set in the pic has missed the final quality control before packaging.
