Recieved in mail today a recall for my Pajero I intended to go to dealer and check it out being the 3rd owner. Obviously big brother is watching and Mitsubishi sent me the letter as the registered owner. Good on Mistubishi I know now why I like there product.

I think that Toyota do the same kinda thing.
They keep track of who owns what.
The reason I say this is, Last week I had to replace the front pinion seal in the old girl. So I ring Black Toyota to pay for one on my CC, so next time some one is going to town to pick it up for me. Anyway the chap at the parts desk asks me for my rego no. He in forms me that it is a 91 HDJ80R TD GXL
Vin JT711TJ800xxx xxxx
Yeap that's her.
I can understand with data bases now that it would make life easy for people when knowing the exact vehicle the part was for.
It can only be a good thing.

makes you wonder how they track the vehicles owner if its not a warranty concern ,( just a recall. ) how do they get the info ?

Interesting!
Dunno about other states, but here in WA, licensing branch doesn't allow info on rego numbers to be given out to citizens or private companies, so I can only assume that dealers give rego updates to Mitsi, Tojo etc when cars come in for
services. (there was a scandal here recently when someone in licensing branch was selling rego info to private car
park operators).
