Has anybody with this type of vehicle had any problems with the electrical system that selects four wheel drive.
Thanks Dave

My 'other' work vehicle is a Rodeo.
The 4wd selection is haphazard and random at best.
I have spent quite a bit of time at the edge of bitumen waiting for it to decide if it's going to let me get back on the road and go
home.
We have a number of them in the organisation (though no new ones, they have been replaced by Rangers which are a thoroughly better vehicle) and apparently they are all performing as designed (according to Holden)
as an aside, the noise level in my dualcab is 82dB. 85dB is the limit for noise that you can be exposed to all day...
I hate that car.

Your opinion
"they have been replaced by Rangers which are a thoroughly better vehicle) and apparently they are all performing as designed (according to Holden)" The Holden Rodeo came second to the Triton in the 4 x 4 mag tests and only a narrow second and it beat the Ranger/Mazda. Nothing wrong with the Rodeo, you do have to follow the correct proceedure or you will have lots of trouble. Cheers Tony

Hi Dave,
I have an '04 Rodeo 4wd, and have had no problems with going from 2H to 4H, which can be done on the fly at speeds around 80 kmph. But if going from 2H to 4L you have to be stationary and have neutral selected, then press 4L, on occasions (when on a hill/slope) I have found that 4L doesn't engage properly and that I have to select 1st gear and gently ease out the clutch a couple of times and then 4L engages and all is ok.
If for any reason your Rodeo is or seems to be "stuck" in 2WD or 4WD then below is instructions to reset the system which was given by a Holden dealer.
1. Ignition off, hold all 3 buttons (2H, 4H & 4L) in together.
2. Switch ignition on to the "reds" position (last position before actual engine ignition).
3. Hold in this position for 30 seconds.
Hope this helps Dave,
Regards,
John

Yes had troubles with my new Rodeo 07 model until you do it correctly. It is a bit of a hassel but once you get used to it its ok. 2WD To H4WD is no problem any more. You can do that on the fly, just be steering strait ahead. H4WD TO L4WD and back again is the trick. As stated above you must be stopped and have neutral selected, I have found foot off clutch. If it wont go in you just have to
rock it a bit forward and then reverse and try again. Coming out of low 4 x 4 IS THE HASSEL. Gets stuck a lot and you have to reverse quite a distance someimes to let it unwind. If this fails I have always had a win when you shift it to neutral by holding any of the buttons down for 30sec and then selecting the gear you want and hold it for 30 sec. Now it is not so much of a problem any more - just be sure to be in Low 4 x 4 before you get to the hazzard, once in you have to do the neutral trick most of the time. Cheers Tony
