Does anybody know a chemical means of removing the scale build up that is found in Porta Potis?

Been using a porta potti for a couple of years and haven't had the prob.I always use liberal doses of both chemical when in use and wash out thoroughly before storing with abit of chemical and water sloshed around inside first. If its a urinal type buildup your refering to,try a retailer of cleaning chemicals, their bound to have something.

Hi Raybates:
I don't have a PortaPottie, but I would probably try some of that CRC .. I use it mainly for removing scale in the dishwasher at home, and it seems to remove everything. I guess I'd read the label first to make sure there will be no damage caused ... just a thought ..

I have used a p/poti for five years and have not had this problem. I always wash the unit out before storage and put the usual amount of chemicles in and add a little water, about 1 ltr to the bottom tank.
I was told to always use the upper tank additive to stop scaling and to help with any odours.
Maybe the suggestion of CLR might work.

Hi raybates,

I've never had to clean a porta potti [yet!], however I have had to get some tough scale build up off other places and I find the orange based cleaners work really well, you could also give them a try.

cheers
