Hi Geoff, have you got something like "12 volt shop" over there? They have a variety of 12 power outlets. doc.

doc,
only listings in the white pages for 12 volt shop are in wa.
we would probably have something similar, but will have to check different names etc.

Hi,
I bought one similar last year for my tinnie. I run my hand held UHF and phone chargers and the small GPS from it. My neighbour has bought the one like the advertised one and is currently somewhere up the back of woop-woop in NSW. He uses his for his phone and gps. He is due back in a couple of weeks so will be interesting to see how it went. I have bought the advertised one for my old Paj but it isn't here yet and that will only be for a gps and possibly a phone charger.
At the price I can't complain. If I was looking for a serious unit to mount properly etc and take a fair amount of current I would probably go through Derek or similar. However on that note mine still works fine for what I use it for.

I bought my 4 outlet unit from Sidewinder, Derek Bester (advertises on this website), and works fine, best of all it has an overall on off switch so I can stop things left in draining the battery without pulling them out.

The outlet from every single vehicle I've ever known is total cr#p and I've previously burnt out my 120w rated toyota outlet with a measly 30L waeco fridge, even thought the fridge uses like 48w or something.

So for my internal multi outlet I connected it staight to the battery through a spare hole in the firewall of my hilux with 6mm core wire.

I also have no affiliation with him either.

I have the 3 outlet one from Sidewinder. Good to have the On/Off switch, but mine is falling apart. The scews fell off first so replaced them with better ones and some glue, but now the whole thing is falling apart. A few things i have purchased from there have given up the ghost fairly quickly, and some my local Auto sparkie wouldnt even install for me. Same with tools really, pay the price and you get quality, pay peanuts you get peanuts.

Ok Kroozer, I'll keep an eye on it and confess it's only a month old but it has had a bit of use,. But I am gentle with it because, as you say, it's not an expensive item and I guess I don't have great expectations.

I have got them from China (eBay) and from DSE. Both are fairly flimsy looking but do the job. Fix to the console or underneath with self adhesive Velcro. Note Velcro brand holds in the hot weather whereas the cheaper alternatives often come unstuck.
