G'day folks,
We've just come back from that part of the world and it would be fair to say the beaches have had a pounding and are extremely soft in spots at the moment. Little Dip conservation Park was no problem and a lot of fun. The trip to Beachport from Nora Creina is a no go unless the tide is at it's bottom to get around rocks, the bypass track has a big gutter at the bottom of soft sand and although you would get down it would be a difficult recovery if heading towards Robe just to get back over. We drove to the nine mile sandhill from Beachport for a muck around in the dunes and had a lot of practice recovering vehicles in the soft stuff. All on marked tracks of course. The beach at Southend is crap with seaweed washed up and a lot of sand washed away due to storms back in August. We did venture into Canunda National Park but not too far as we have done it before but wanted to check out some of the side tracks leading inland to the lakes.

Can't say enough how good the bush camping reserve at Southend is and would definitley stay there again.

15psi. There was a decent gutter preventing access along the beach about 1km from southend. You could bypass it by taking another access track to the beach approx 1.5km out of town. Had trouble getting away from Stan at the Caravan park a couple of times. Mate he loves a chat and he's a funny bugger to boot!! Curiously he remembered my missus as "trouble", why i'm not sure but we saw the funny side of it.

sorry mate just read the post properly, the camping reserve is in town and a stones throw from the caravan park. Basically it has flushing tiolets, firepits and bore and drinking water which you have to collect. there are no shower facilities. $6 a head each night and it is behind a locked gate.
