Strzelecki Track upgrade information

There are signs on the Srrzelecki Track advising of an upgrade about to happen.
Found this on the website:This one

Here is an extract from the 19 page document:

The upgrade will improve accessibility and safety on the Strzelecki Track and includes:

• Constructing six sealed overtaking opportunities, generally 7 km long and 8 m wide, to allow drivers the opportunity to overtake slower moving vehicles without the hazards of reduced visibility associated with dust and loose road surfaces.
• Constructing three light vehicle rest areas.
• Constructing three truck rest areas.
• Re-sheeting a total of 54 km of the Strzelecki Track, where sheeting material has worn away and the surface is in poor condition.
• Stabilising thirty minor floodways.
• Constructing three new major floodways at Frome Creek, McDonnell Creek and Mt Curtis Creek.

There is more detail in the main document if anyone is interested.

Thanks for the 'heads up' Mike - quite interesting - all money well spent it seems (our money of course :-).

Darian,
When we came along in July the bottom part was like a smooth dirt highway, all those jagged rocks were gone.
We wondered what they were up to as the track had been widened somewhat in some sections.
