I have been using OziExplorer now for over 4 years with the Natmap 2003 Maps with no problems at all. Recently upgraded to the new 2008 Natmap Digital Maps. Loaded the new Ozi upgrade for the new maps, loaded the new DVD to the hard drive and all seemed OK. Connected up the other day as usual for moving map with the GPS and within about 10 seconds it went from the Mosaic maps straight to Landsat 7 Mosaic. I stopped the moving map and loaded the 250k Mosaic no problems. Started the moving map again and the same thing. Stopped moving map again, loaded the 2003 mosaic map, started moving map and again went straight to the Landsat Mosaic. The only way I could resolve this problem was to remove the Landsat Mosaic file from the hard drive and no more problems.
Has any other person with the new 2008 Natmap series had similar problems?
Cheers
Stephen

Sounds like a moving map control issue....
In the Moving Map Control box make sure the following buttons are selected (as taken from the Ozi help file):
Check for more Detailed Map - If this button is depressed then OziExplorer will search for a more detailed map at the interval that has been set in configuration. If a more detailed map is found then it will be loaded.
Look for Maps in Folder of Currently Loaded Map - If this button is depressed then when searching for a new map (leaving the current map) or for a more detailed map the search will only be done in the folder which contains the currently loaded map. If the button is not depressed then the "Map File path" and its sub-folders will be searched.
Hope that helps
Andrew

Hi Andrew
I have just checked the Moving Map Control box and the check for more detailed maps was ticked. I will load the Landsat File again and un tick the tab and see what happens.
Thanks

The "check for more detailed map" button is causing the 10 second change of map, though either button can fix the problem. The other button will stop it searching other directories IF you have only the natmap topos in the one directory (without any other maps like the landsat etc).

I had exactly the same issue with Natmap 2003. The .map file for the landsat indicates better pixel resolution than the 250k mosaic even though they are the same nominal scale - Ozi assumes that better pixel resolution = better scale and switches maps.
I also have the same issues with the NSW 1:100,000 and VIC 1:50,000 topo maps when travelling near the border. The NSW maps have a better pixel count and Ozi switches to them which is annoying as they show nothing on the ViC side of the border where the VIC topos at least show some detail on the NSW side.
Regards
Pete

Hi Pete
This was a strange problem that I never had with the 2003 Natmaps loaded, only when I upgraded to the new 2008 Series. As above, I un ticked the check for more detailed maps and the problem solved.

Hi Greg,
I have updated to this new version. One thing that you have to do when you get the new 2008 Natmap series is go to the OziExplorer site and download the new Map File Path.

I have had a couple of issues from time to time where the config settings change (for whatever reason) and to assist in trouble shooting and so I don't have to use my brain to remember what they were set to, I have screen dumped each tab of the config file to a word doc so I can return to my baseline settings if/when they change of their own accord.

Hi Von Helga
This is the first time that I have had a problem with OziExplorer, and I hope the last. With help from members on this site it is now all sorted out.
Cheers

It is much easier to just copy the "oziexp.ini" file to another directory and then restore it when necessary. EVERY setting of Oziexplorer is contained in that text file.
