Mick,
Lynda had me confused(easy to do!!!) with this, as wasn't aware of any waterholes of note around
Dajarra.
Checked out Hema map, and it is on the Georgina River, roughly west of
Boulia. By the map it is an impressive hole, maybe more than 20kms long. It is on Wirrilyerna Station, and I believe they offer farm stays, or should that be station stays, and
camping on this w'hole.
Dajarra is a small town between
Boulia & Mt Isa. Used to be a big rail head for dispatch of 1,000's of head of cattle, east to meatworks. With the advent of road trains this has long ceased.
Some great scenery around
Dajarra too, with many rocky outcrops, amongst the hills. Lot of
granite about here, and it is mined closer to Mt Isa, and trucked down to be made into those fashionable bench tops one sees these days.
Boulia area is in grip of drought at moment, so it doesn't look too flash.
Enjoyed your yarns & photos from Rudall country, Mick.
Hooroo,
Bob.
